Overview

How we incorporate yoga into our movement and mindfulness practices can change from day to day. Sometimes, we’re looking for a flow that guides us through improving breathwork, mind-muscle connection, and the ability to bring our focus to the present. And sometimes we’re seeking physical improvements in our daily activities and/or sport of choice through the functional applicability of yoga poses to our movement patterns. Whether yoga is the primary focus of your movement/mental practices or you use yoga as an aid for physical improvements in other fitness modalities, the benefits of consistently including yoga and yoga-inspired movement in your training are countless.

Who is this challenge for?
This 2-week challenge is for anyone interested in including yoga in their training schedule! Whether you’re a beginner who doesn’t quite know where to start or have a fair amount of yoga experience but want some guidance in putting together a schedule, this challenge will lead you through progressively challenging yoga practices that combine focuses on foundational yoga poses and techniques in tandem with fusion style yoga-inspired flows.

What to expect?
The yoga practices in this challenge range from total body flows to upper or lower body focuses. We kick off week one with low level difficulty yoga flows and slowly progress to more challenging level 3 practices, culminating in an option for a level 4 flow at the end of the second week. You will complete 5 yoga flows each week with an average daily time commitment of 30 minutes per session and a choice between two flows each day. Your choice of practice each day will depend on availability of time and/or your preference for the focus of each yoga flow. There is an optional active recovery practice concluding each week.

Equipment needed
All you need is your body! For most of the yoga practices, a mat is helpful (but not required) to provide a comfortable experience throughout the session. Some practices also include optional yoga blocks, a strap, and/or a blanket to increase movement accessibility, but all flows can be completed without additional equipment. If you happen to have blocks, a strap, and/or a blanket, bring them along to each practice and have them readily available should you choose to use them for assistance with any of the poses!
